The meetings
explored means of boosting bilateral trade and joint industrial cooperation
during the coming period.

During her official visit to the capital Baghdad, Minister of
Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with Iraqi Minister of Trade Alaa Ahmed
al-Jubouri, in the presence of Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal
Aziz al-Khabbaz, and Egyptian ambassador to Iraq Walid Ismail.
The meeting discussed boosting trade between the two
countreis, which hit $747.6 million in 2020, compared to about $551.3 million a
year earlier; with Egyptian exports to the Iraqi market growing 3% to $421.7 million.
The minister invited her Iraqi counterpart to visit Egypt
soon, to further discuss all the challenges hindering inter-trade movement.
Gamea also held another meeting with Iraqi Minister of
Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz to explore means of increasing
joint industrial cooperation and benefiting from Egyptian know-how, notably in
specialized industrial complex establishment and management.
The two ministers agreed, during the meeting, on the implementation of a comprehensive plan to
enhance joint industrial cooperation, especially in the rehabilitation of Iraqi
factories.
Gamea pointed out that other opportunities for joint
cooperation include the sectors of leather, medicine, textiles, tires, electrics,
electronics, building materials, chemicals, mining industries, in addition to glass,
food products, petrochemicals and communications equipment.
