Services
offered by GASC:
The General Authority for Supply
Commodities do not offer direct services
to the citizens. However GASC makes
specific strategic commodities available.
These strategic commodities could be
classified into basic commodities (local
and imported wheat, maize, sugar, ration
oil and imported oil, in addition to
additional commodities like: rice, tea,
free oil distributed for ration card
holders). Said commodities are distributed
through the distribution outlets
determined according to the State's
general policies.
Due to the above, the purchasing system
adopted by GASC for covering the country's
needs of basic and strategic commodities
changes according to changes in the global
market. GASC buys on behalf of the State,
using prudence and wisdom, specially after
the State's converting to a market driven
economy, with its change in the strategic
vision, taking into consideration the
social dimension.
