Activities and duties of the
General Department for Technical Affairs
Industrial production quality control in factories as
follows:
1- Continuous raids on registered and licensed factories
to insure their products quality and that it conforms to
standard specifications.
2- Raids on random unlicensed factories and taking the
necessary measures to suspend them till they conform.
3- Quality control on materials used in manufacturing
the different products to insure its quality for citizen
protection.
4- Quality control on final and subsidiary products.
5- Continuous raids for consumer protection and
investigating and resolving citizen complaints.
6- Testing samples for conformity and the necessary
revision to insure production's conformity to standard
specifications at (Egyptian Organization for
Standardization and Quality Control - Ministry of Health
- Chemistry Administration - Veterinary Administration)
laboratories, and taking all necessary measures.
- Cooperating with banks and providing consultancy
services and technical reports to any parties that might
request them.
- Inspection and licensing of service and maintenance
centers of instruments and long-life equipment, and
insuring that expertise, and spare parts are provided,
and that technical requirements have been taken into
consideration.
- Revising the technical requirements for, and licensing
of erecting toxic and non-toxic production related
material warehouses.
- Technical studies provided to the Customs Department
concerning temporary set free customs, drawback, and
instant tax retrieval.
- Studying citizen complaints concerning defective
products or unlicensed factories that endanger citizens,
and resolving such complaints on the spot.
- Cooperating with all other censorship and control
bodies on the inspection raids.
- Participating with committees formed under the
authority of Egyptian Organization for Standardization
and Quality Control in setting standard specification
Activities and duties of the
General Department for Machinery
- Revising and inspecting the erection of Boilers and
thermal machinery and their safety regulations to secure
individuals and establishments.
- Licensing the erection and operating of Boilers and
thermal machinery.
- Constant sudden inspection at least once a year to
insure the functionality and integrity of safety
equipment and that the generated operating pressure does
not exceed the allowed limit.
- Filing reports and informing district attorneys of any
Boilers and thermal machinery violations according to
law number 55 of the year 1977 and it's governing
executive regulation concerning erecting and
administering Boilers and thermal machinery.
- Innovating an advanced center in cooperation with the
German Bureau (G.T.Z.) in the field of developing
Boilers control system and pressure containers for
industrial establishments according to the agreement
signed between the Arab Republic of Egypt government and
it's German counterpart.
- Training human resources at specialized centers to
stay up to date with the latest developments and catch
up with the new technologies.
Activities and duties of the
General Department of Commercial and Economical Affairs
The commercial and economical activities are
complimentary to the technical activities provided by
the authority to serve industry and the national economy
through:
- Encouraging export by applying ministerial decision
number 665 for the year 1997 issued by Dr.\Minister of
Finance concerning tax-rebate to encourage export in
competent prices and the possibility of venturing into
new foreign markets or applying temporary set free
customs and drawback.
- Providing technical counseling to the Tax Department
over sales tax by participating on high judicial
committees according to law number 11 for the year 1991.
- Arbitration price studies to decide the pricing
boundaries by which to calculate taxes on imported
products in comparison to prices of similar local
products.
- Studying factory conditions, suspension, or
determining its actual production quantities.
- Participating on production specifications and
regulations committees of all industries.
- Participating in revising budgets of the Egyptian
Industries Union and all its affiliated branches
