Minister
of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with Wolfram Diener, president and
CEO of German Messe Düsseldorf fair authority, and his accompanying delegation,
on the sidelines of Food Africa, to discuss boosting mutual cooperation in the
field of exhibitions.
Gamea
expressed the ministry's keenness to develop the sector, with the aim of turning
Egypt into a regional and global center for international fairs, especially that
it is a major hub for global exports to access the markets of the Middle East
and Africa.
She stressed
the importance of signing a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian
government and the leading German trade fair ground and organizer, to benefit
from the great experiences of the international platform, being one of the key global
players in the field.
Diener,
for his part, referred to the possibility of Egypt becoming a member of Save Food,
a joint initiative launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Messe
Düsseldorf, and interpack, which aim to help promote the production, packaging
and storage of safe agricultural products with lower wastage rates.
