On the sidelines of the Joint Egyptian-Sudanese Higher Presidential Committee held in Khartoum, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar met with Sudan’s Minister of Industry and Trade Musa Karama to discuss the future of mutual cooperation.
Nassar highlighted that Sudan's decision to lift a ban on Egyptian food imports, that was imposed in March 2017, is one of the most important results of the meetings, among others.
“The move would give a boost to Egyptian food exports to Sudan, which plummeted to around $44 million from $164 million back in 2016 before the ban,” he said.
On a relevant note, a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Export Development Authority and Sudan Trade Point was signed to promote joint cooperation and establish a strategic partnership in exchanging know-how and trade information.
The two-year agreement aims to support businessmen and SMEs, share information about industries and products with export potential and encourage private firms to participate in trade fairs and conferences organized in both countries.
