Accompanying President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in his official visit to Belarus, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar held an extended meeting with Belarusian Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Vladimir Koltovich.

The meeting explored the future of economic cooperation between the two countries and a number of economic issues of common concern.

The two sides agreed to hold the sixth meeting of the Egyptian-Belarusian joint trade commission in Minsk in August, and the first meeting of the Business Cooperation Council, which is to be formed under an MoU signed between the two ministries during the visit.

The meeting also discussed boosting bilateral cooperation in the manufacturing of machinery, equipment and vehicles to meet the needs of the Egyptian market and export to regional markets.

According to official data, Egypt-Belarus trade grew 10.7% in 2018 to reach $108 million, up from 97.5 million a year earlier; with Egypt’s exports to Belarus rising 17.5% to hit $25 million.
