The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s media center has denied news circulated by some websites regarding extending decree No. 618 of 2020 which imposed final dumping duties on imports of mechanical carpets and floor coverings made of synthetic materials originating in or exported from Turkey for five years.

The media center confirmed that no decision was issued in this regard especially that the minister had issued a decision earlier this month initiating anti-dumping investigation into low-price imports of this category. Accordingly, the Trade Remedies Sector -the investigative authority- has embarked on an investigation into the matter.

“The mechanism for imposing fees on any product is subject to extensive procedures and studies that may take a year to determine whether or not fees could be imposed,” Ibrahim al-Segginy, head of the sector, explained.
