Within Egypt’s keenness to foster joint economic relations with Africa, a delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry has visited South Sudan led by Ahmed Maghawri, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS).

The visit included a series of meetings with senior South Sudanese officials to discuss means of deepening trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The delegation met with Minister of Minister of Trade and Industry of South Sudan Kuol Athian Mawien, to explore joint investment and commercial opportunities, especially in the fields of sugar refining, juice production, cement, and wood, as well as housing and infrastructure projects.

The two sides discussed the organization of an Egyptian-South Sudanese business forum in Cairo that would bring together the business communities in both countries for deeper cooperation.

The visit also included meetings with the Ministry of Investment undersecretary and the Chambers of Commerce deputy secretary-general, where they explored further cooperation opportunities.
