Minister
of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has witnessed the signing of a cooperation
protocol between the Egyptian Ready Made Garments Export Council (RMGEC) and the
French Federation of Textile Industries “Union des Industries Textiles” (UIT), on
promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of spinning and weaving.
Other
attendees included representatives of the French Business Confederation “Mouvement
des Entreprises de France” (MEDEF) and the French-Egyptian Business Council, in
addition to a number of French companies working in the industry.
The
event came during the minister’s visit to the French capital Paris as part of a
high-level Egyptian ministerial delegation, led by Prime Minister Mostafa
Madbouly.
“The
private sector in both Egypt and France plays a key role in strengthening economic
relations between the two countries during the next period,” Gamea said.
The
Egyptian government, she added, aims to attract more French investments in the local
market, which offers various incentives and access to markets of more than 2
billion consumers.
Gamea
further stressed the ministry's keenness to boost trade between Egypt and
France, which amounted to $1.831billion during the first nine months of the
year.
On a
related note, the Egyptian Commercial Office in Paris organized three meetings with
French companies in the fields of electricity, energy, IT, communications, and
infrastructure.
