Gamea: Promising opportunities for Swiss businesses to invest in the Egyptian market and export to the African one

Intensive talks have been held between Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea and Guy Parmelin, the Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs, Education and Scientific Research, heading a delegation of government officials, members of parliament and business leaders.

The two parties explored ways to strengthen economic relations between both countries and potential investment opportunities for Swiss companies in Egypt.

In this regard, Gamea pointed out the big investment opportunities for Swiss businessmen available in the Egyptian market especially in the industrial and services sectors, as well as projects of renewable energy to meet the needs of the local market and export to markets of regional and African countries.

Gamea pointed out the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in supporting small and medium enterprises.

The Swiss business representatives proposed a number of suggestions to enhance the Egypt’s business environment. 

“Switzerland ranks 16th on the list of countries investing in the Egyptian market, worth $2.144 billion in 433 projects,” she added.

She noted that the trade exchange between the two countries reached $917.905 billion in  the  year 2018. Goods traded between the two countries include: medical industries, furniture, agriculture products, electronic and engineering products, foods, textiles, chemicals, and fertilizers.
